MS is believed to be an autoimmune disease where the body’s immune system mistakenly attacks it and at the same time damaging the ‘myelin sheath.’ It is supposed to protect the nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. This damage slows messages to and from the brain or stops them altogether.

People who have Multiple Sclerosis may suffer from multiple complications. The average person with MS has to deal with fatigue, tingling and numbness, pain, and impaired thinking and understanding. Often leading to stuttering and slurred speech. Depression and emotional changes are also common in patients with MS. With damage to the myelin sheath, patients with MS have “relapses” or “MS attacks.” The symptoms flare up and could potentially last from 24 hours up to several months. Over time, this is lead to an increase in disability.

With the stem cell treatment, it is designed to target the myelin sheath. The process of extracting hematopoietic stem cells from a patient’s own adipose (fat) tissue or by using umbilical cord blood stem cells, and infusing the patient with those stem cells. We replace the “faulty” immune system cells with un-defected stem cells. These cells then multiply and produce a higher concentration of properly functioning immune system cells. As a result, the symptoms of MS can be significantly reduced.
